Man Killed in Multi-Car Crash on Cherry Avenue in Fontana

 
FONTANA, CA (July 10, 2023) — A man died in Thursday’s multi-car accident on Cherry Avenue near the 10 Freeway.
 
According to the Fontana Police, the multi-vehicle collision happened around 4:24 p.m. on July 6. For what authorities believe might have been a medical emergency reason, a man in a white Toyota truck made a sharp eastbound turn but crashed. During the collision, the northbound truck slammed into an eastbound concrete K-rail before sideswiping two stationary cars.
 
Subsequently, it rear-ended a flatbed trailer being towed by a stationary semi-truck waiting at a red light.
 
All three stationary vehicles were waiting at the eastbound 10 Freeway ramp.
 
The driver of the Toyota, a 55-year-old Palmdale man, died in the accident. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Coroner believes that the driver likely had a medical emergency before the accident. In addition, they found no signs of alcohol at the scene.
 
Due to the crash, crews closed the northbound lanes from Slover to the 10 Freeway on- and off-ramps for nearly three hours.
