Two Vehicles Collide on East Lerdo Highway in Shafter Killing One Driver

 
SHAFTER, CA (August 26, 2023) – Luis Andree Gallegos Prieto was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Shafter Monday afternoon on August 14.
 
The fatal accident happened around 4:35 p.m. at East Lerdo Highway and Driver Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Prieto was driving a vehicle when he collided with another car. The impact caused both vehicles to burst into flames.
 
Responding firefighters extinguished the fire and found Prieto dead inside his vehicle.
 
Prieto was 21 years old, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
 
It was unknown if there were other injuries sustained in the crash.
 
A postmortem examination will be conducted to confirm the cause and manner of the death.
