Woman Dies after Pickup Truck Rear-Ends Her Car on 215 Freeway in Menifee

 
MENIFEE, CA (May 22, 2023) – Lim Paz was killed in a rear-end crash in Menifee Thursday evening on May 18.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 10:00 p.m. on northbound 215 Freeway at Scott Road. According to the CHP, Paz was driving a 2008 Toyota Camry that came to a stop when traffic came to a halt due to a freeway obstruction.
 
A 61-year-old Murrieta woman was driving her 2019 Dodge Ram northbound and failed to stop when the vehicles ahead of her braked. She then rear-ended the Camry at a high rate of speed, causing major damage to the car and causing it to travel out of control.
 
The Toyota came to rest underneath a 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer. The pickup went on to sideswipe a Nissan Quest before finally coming to a stop in lanes.
 
Riverside County Fire Department crews extricated Paz from the wreckage, who died at the scene.
 
Pas was 62 years old from Menifee.
 
The 54-year-old trucker and the 46-year-old Riverside woman in the Nissan were unharmed.
 
The Dodge driver suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization. She was not arrested.
 
An investigation is ongoing. Officials urged anyone with further information to contact the CHP Temecula office at 951-506-2000.
