Bicyclist Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Rialto

 
RIALTO, CA (October 10, 2023) – Leopoldo Padilla Mondragon was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Rialto Saturday evening on October 7.
 
The fatal crash happened around 7:00 p.m. on Riverside Avenue near Santa Ana Avenue. According to the Rialto Police Department, Mondragon was riding his bicycle southbound in the second lane of Riverside approaching Santa Ana when a Hyundai sedan rear-ended him.
 
After the crash, the driver of the sedan did not stop to render aid.
 
Mondragon, a 65-year-old Laguna Hills resident, died at the scene.
 
The suspect vehicle was later located in Bloomington. An arrest warrant was issued for the driver, 46-year-old Santos Lopez-Rosales of San Bernardino, on suspicion of the hit-and-run crash.
 
Lopez-Rosales had not been found as of Tuesday afternoon.
