Leonicio Cruz Charged in Deadly Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Magnolia Avenue near 91 Freeway

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (September 27, 2024) — Leonicio Cruz faces several charges following Wednesday’s fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Magnolia Avenue.
 
According to authorities, the deadly pedestrian accident happened around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Under unclear circumstances, 21-year-old Leonicio Gonzalez Cruz struck a 72-year-old Riverside man walking in one of the eastbound lanes of Magnolia Avenue. Subsequently, Cruz left the scene in his Dodge Charger without rendering aid.
 
Minutes later, paramedics responded after receiving calls from witnesses and transported the gravely injured man to Riverside Community Hospital where he died.
 
After the crash, police investigated the scene and confirmed Cruz’s identity, locating him on Cocopah Lane where they took him into custody without incident.
 
Officers provided no other information surrounding this accident.
