Lawrence Hayes Jr. Arrested after Crashing into Police Vehicle in Suisun City

 
SUISUN CITY, CA (September 23, 2021) – Authorities arrested 43-year-old Lawrence Hayes Jr. of Fairfield following a DUI crash on Walters Road, early Wednesday morning.
 
According to the Suisun City Police Department, the incident happened on September 22, at about 12:30 a.m. An officer reportedly pulled over a driver that showed signs of impaired driving.
 
As the officer approached the vehicle, the driver allegedly reversed into the officer’s car. Then, the driver sped off from the scene, initiating a pursuit.
 
A short time later, the vehicle lost control near Walters Road and Air Base Parkway. The driver exited his vehicle and fled on foot. However, officers later caught the suspect and arrested him.
 
Responders also confirmed that they found a loaded handgun inside the suspect’s vehicle.
 
The driver, later identified as Hayes Jr., is facing several charges, inducing assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, weapons charges, obstructing an officer, and DUI.
 
Suisun City police continue to investigate the crash.
