83-Year-Old Larry Koepke Dies after Struck by Car on Los Coyotes Diagonal at Carson Street

 
LONG BEACH, CA (January 4, 2022)Larry Koepke died in a pedestrian accident in Long Beach Monday morning last week.
 
The fatal accident happened around 7:22 a.m. on December 27, at Los Coyotes Diagonal and Carson Street. According to the Long Beach Police Department, Koepke and his relative, a 73-year-old Long Beach resident, were walking southbound across Carson Street in a marked crosswalk.
 
A 2020 Hyundai Sonata made a left turn onto Carson Street from northbound Los Coyotes Diagonal when it struck the two pedestrians.
 
The impact left the victim with critical injuries, while the other pedestrian only had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
 
Paramedics rushed Koepke to a local trauma hospital, where he died the following day. He was an 83-year-old Lakewood resident.
 
The driver of the Hyundai, a 75-year-old Long Beach resident, remained on scene and cooperated with police.
