Seven Vehicles Collide on 605 Freeway in Lakewood Killing 54-Year-Old Man

 
LAKEWOOD, CA (July 5, 2023) – Kelly Drake was killed in a multi-vehicle accident in Lakewood Sunday evening on July 2.
 
The fatal accident happened around 8:15 p.m. on 605 Freeway at Carson Street. According to the CHP, two vehicles collided along the southbound freeway for unknown reasons. The impact caused a chain-reaction crash involving five more vehicles.
 
Los Angeles County firefighters responded and found at least four patients.
 
Drake, a 54-year-old Westminster resident, was a passenger in one of the vehicles. He suffered significant injuries and died at the hospital.
 
One other person suffered major injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. Two others had minor injuries.
 
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
