Tesla DUI Driver Crashes into Caltrans Truck on 5 Freeway in Shasta County Seriously Injuring 6-Year-Old Daughter

 
SHASTA COUNTY, CA (March 31, 2023) – A juvenile was seriously injured in a DUI crash on 5 Freeway in Shasta County Monday just after midnight.
 
The crash happened along the northbound 5 Freeway at the Fawndale Road exit, about 10 miles north of Redding. According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of a Tesla was traveling at high speeds when they crashed into the back of a Caltrans attenuator truck.
 
As a result, the driver of the Tesla and their 6-year-old daughter in the car with them were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
 
Fortunately, the juvenile was fastened into their booster seat.
 
Officers later arrested the driver for driving under the influence and child endangerment.
 
The crash is still under investigation.
