Wrong-Way Driver Dies after Colliding with SUV on Highway 101 near Hearn Avenue

 
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (April 11, 2022) – Justino Gomez Rojas was killed in a wrong-way accident on Highway 101 in Sonoma County, early Sunday morning.
 
The accident happened just before 2:00 a.m. on April 3 near Hearn Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, Rojas was driving a Toyota Tacoma southbound in the northbound lanes of the highway when he crashed into a Ford Explorer.
 
The impact caused Rojas fatal injuries and he died at the scene. He was a 36-year-old Petaluma resident, according to the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office.
 
The female driver of the Explorer suffered major injuries and was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
 
At this time, an investigation into this fatality is ongoing. CHP Officials urged anyone with further information to contact them at 707-588-1400.
