Hit-and-Run Crash on Rubidoux Street in Indio Leaves Juan Garcia Brain Dead

 
INDIO, CA (February 8, 2022)Juan Garcia was brain dead after a hit-and-run crash at Rubidoux Street and Highway 111 in Indio on Sunday afternoon.
 
The crash happened around 4:00 p.m. on February 6. According to the Indio Police Department, a vehicle struck Garcia in the parking lot near Little Caesar’s Pizza and the Arco AM/PM gas station.
 
After hitting the victim, the involved driver fled the scene.
 
When police arrived, they found Garcia lying on the ground with severe injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced brain dead the next day.
 
Garcia was a 37-year-old Indio resident.
 
Police later identified the suspect as as a 34-year-old woman from Indio. They arrested her Tuesday evening. County jail records show that she was released the following day on $65,000 bail.
 
The suspect faces charges of hit-and-run resulting in death. She is set to be arraigned in April.
