Police Arrest DUI Hit-and-Run Driver Juan Venicio Gallardo after Fatally Striking Pedestrian in Santa Ana

 
SANTA ANA, CA (September 20, 2022) – Police arrested Juan Venicio Gallardo for DUI and hit-and-run after fatally striking a pedestrian in Santa Ana Sunday afternoon on September 18.
 
The fatal crash happened just before 5:00 p.m. at a bus stop in the 1500 block of South Fairview Street. Police said the 55-year-old suspect was driving a vehicle when he collided into the pedestrian who was waiting at the bus stop.
 
After striking the victim, Gallardo fled the scene. Officers responded to the area and found an adult male at the bus stop suffering from significant injuries.
 
Emergency personnel transported the pedestrian to an area hospital, where he died Monday at 2:09 a.m.
 
Meanwhile, officers located the vehicle and suspect. They took Gallardo into custody for felony driving under the influence and felony hit-and-run.
 
Gallardo was being held on $100,000 bail, according to jail records.
