3-Year-Old Boy Dies after Struck by Car in Chula Vista

 
CHULA VISTA, CA (May 30, 2023)Josiah Toleafoa was hit and killed by a car in Chula Vista Saturday evening on May 27.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:21 p.m. in a parking lot in the 800 block of Showroom Place. According to the Chula Vista Police Department, the 3-year-old boy was on his way to Play City to climb and slide and celebrate his 3rd birthday with other children when a car struck him.
 
Officers arrived and attempted CPR. Paramedics then rushed the boy to Rady’s Children’s Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
The 36-year-old driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
 
Police said drugs and alcohol were not believed to be a factor that contributed to the crash.
