Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Hanford, Suspect Benjamin Fernandez Arrested

HANFORD, CA (November 8, 2022) – Joshua Kinser was killed in a pedestrian hit-and-run crash in Hanford Friday evening on November 4.

The fatal crash happened around 9:30 p.m. at East Lacey Boulevard and 10th Avenue. According to the Hanford Police Department, the 21-year-old victim was walking at the intersection when a sedan struck him.

Medical personnel declared Kinser dead on the scene after attempting to provide aid.

The driver of the sedan, Benjamin Fernandez, also 21 years old, fled the scene after the crash. But he turned himself in Saturday morning along with the involved vehicle.

Fernandez was booked into Kings County jail for felony hit and run, causing death and involuntary manslaughter.

An investigation is ongoing.
