Motorcyclist Dies after Crash with Pickup Truck in Sage
SAGE, CA (June 20, 2023) – Joshua Crain died in a motorcycle accident in Sage Sunday morning on June 18.
The fatal accident happened around 9:50 a.m. on Sage Road, just north of Red Mountain Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Crain was driving his 2016 BMW S1100 motorcycle northbound on Sage at a high rate of speed when he lost control and slid across the painted solid double yellow lines.
A 49-year-old Hemet man driving a 2011 Nissan Frontier pickup was approaching the curve going southbound at 50 mph and collided with Crain’s motorcycle head-on.
Crain suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 20-year-old Marine from Camp Pendleton, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
The pickup driver was not injured.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, which is still under investigation.
