Joseph Rios Dies, Driver Crashes Into Big Rig, Tree on 10 Freeway near Main Street

 
CABAZON, CA (March 18, 2024) — Joseph Rios died after a car crashed into a semi-truck and a tree on the 10 Freeway near Main Street.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. For some reason, a westbound white Hyundai Sonata lost control and veered onto the freeway’s dirt shoulder. Subsequently, the unidentified driver tried to correct it but crashed into a westbound semi-truck. Upon impact, the Hyundai veered out of control and plowed into a tree.
 
Moments later, emergency personnel and police responded to find the damaged Hyundai but not the big rig driver. Whether or not the driver was aware that he or she struck the Hyundai was uncertain.
 
Tragically, Rios of Menifee passed away at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs less than 90 minutes later. His driver suffered minor injuries in the accident.
