Motorcyclist Dies after Crashing into Passenger Truck in Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (March 14, 2022) – Joseph Hickman was killed in a motorcycle accident in Oakland on Wednesday evening.
 
The accident happened around 8:15 p.m. on March 9 at 4th Street and Foothill Boulevard in the East Lake District. According to the Oakland Police Department, Hickman and another man were riding their motorcycles and were speeding westbound on Foothill Boulevard.
 
Hickman failed to stop at an intersection stop sign and slammed into a passenger truck that was going north on 4th Avenue.
 
The impact ejected Hickman from his bike. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 40-year-old Emeryville resident.
 
Meanwhile, the other motorcyclist and the truck driver were not injured.
 
Police are still investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. They urged anyone with information to contact traffic investigators at 510-777-8570.
