Car Crashes into Canal in San Rafael Killing Driver and Passenger

 
SAN RAFAEL, CA (September 18, 2023) – Jose Vasquez Gonzalez and Gaytan Hernandez were killed in a car accident in San Rafael Saturday morning on September 16.
 
The fatal accident happened around 7:00 a.m. on Canal Street. According to the San Rafael Police Department, the two were in a vehicle that was traveling at 70 mph. For unknown reasons, the vehicle drove into the waterway at the end of the street.
 
The San Rafael Fire Department and Southern Marin Fire Department Dive Team recovered the men from the submerged vehicle.
 
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Both were 21 years old, according to the Marin County Coroner’s Office.
