Hit-and-Run Crash on PCHP in San Diego Puts Man in ICU

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 8, 2023) – Jon Heemeier was badly injured in a hit-and-run crash in San Diego Wednesday morning on March 1.
 
The crash happened around 5:45 a.m. on Pacific Highway at West Hawthorn Street. According to the San Diego Police Department, Heemeier was crossing the crosswalk when a car turning right hit him and fled the scene.
 
First responders rushed Heemeir to a hospital with multiple fractures and a traumatic head injury. His head injury caused his brain to bleed and he remains in ICU.
 
Heemeir and his wife live in Washington. He was visiting San Diego on a business trip and was crossing the street to get to his rental car to get to work when he was struck.
 
At this time, the hit-and-run suspect is still at large. Further investigation is underway.
