John Shin Detained in Deadly Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash near Azusa Canyon Road and Nubia Street

 
IRWINDALE, CA (May 1, 2023)John Shin faces charges in a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident near Azusa Canyon Road and Nubia Street.
 
According to an Irwindale Police Department statement, officers arrested 33-year-old Shin at his residence after acquiring a tip and using surveillance footage to locate a driver who left after hitting a man.
 
The deadly pedestrian crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the 5000 block of Azusa Canyon Road. Arriving authorities found an unresponsive male at the scene and pronounced him dead.
 
The driver, however, left the scene without rendering aid. After determining from surveillance footage that the car involved was a dark-colored SUV leaving at a high rate of speed, police began an investigation.
 
Following his arrest, police had him booked on $50,000 bail. However, Shin posted bond and was released from custody.
 
Officials have not released the fatal victim’s name. However, officials will notify family and members and release the victim’s name.
