39-Year-Old John Romero Dies after Struck by Amtrak Train in Fresno

 
FRESNO, CA (December 14, 2021)John Romero was killed in a train accident in Fresno on Sunday evening.
 
The fatal accident happened just before 8:30 p.m. on December 12, in the area of Safford Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue. Romero was either walking or standing on the tracks when an Amtrak passenger train struck him.
 
Romero died at the scene. He was a 39-year-old Fresno resident, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.
 
According to the Amtrak schedule, the northbound San Joaquin train would have left from the downtown Fresno station minutes earlier.
 
There were 41 passengers on the train at the time of the crash. No other injuries were reported.
 
An investigation into this fatality is active and ongoing.
