San Simeon Man Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Highway 1

 
SAN SIMEON, CA (August 15, 2021) – Joel Jacob Hoff was killed in a pedestrian accident on Highway 1 in San Simeon Friday afternoon.
 
The accident happened around 12:45 p.m. on August 13, about two miles south of Hearst Castle Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 27-year-old San Simeon man was walking northbound on Highway 1 when he walked in front of the right side of an oncoming vehicle.
 
The vehicle then struck Hoff, killing him instantly.
 
It is unknown if the involved driver has stayed after the crash. It is also unclear if drugs or alcohol played a factor.
 
At this time, an investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
