Joanna Huizar Killed in DUI Car Crash on Victoria Avenue near John Street

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (September 18, 2023) — Joanna Huizar died in a DUI accident when a car crashed into a tree on Victoria Avenue near John Street.
 
According to the Riverside Police Department, the single-car crash happened Wednesday. For DUI-related reasons, a 23-year-old driver was moving in the wrong direction of the westbound lane of Victoria Avenue. Subsequently, the driver lost control of the vehicle while rounding a curve and plowed into a palm tree in the center median.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded and found the driver with major injuries, immediately transporting him to a nearby hospital. However, 22-year-old Huizar, the passenger, perished at the scene.
