Jesse Fleury Dies, Chad Steinmetz Detained in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Palm Canyon Drive near Broadmoor Drive

 
PALM SPRINGS, CA (June 8, 2023) — Jesse Fleury died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Palm Canyon Drive near Broadmoor Drive.
 
According to Palm Springs police, the deadly hit-and-run happened on May 27, 2022, at 6:40 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, Jessie Fleury, of San Jacinto, was hit by a red Porsche 911. The Porsche driver left the scene of the crash, leaving the 39-year-old dying at the scene.
 
Arriving investigators were able to identify the model from the broken parts recovered at the crash site. Nearly a week after the crash, traffic investigators found the vehicle at a collision repair center in Cathedral City, but police said 42-year-old Chad Steinmetz — the owner of the car — was uncooperative during the investigation.
 
However, as the Traffic Division continued its investigation, they eventually filed a charge of felony hit-and-run involving injury or death. Authorities issued a warrant for arrest for Steinmetz. He’s currently out on $70,000 bail, according to jail records.
