Jerry Cepel, Karan Pannu, Paul Hammack, Patrick Gainer Among Killed after Car Slams Into Tree on Roseville Parkway near Granite Bay Golf Club

 
GRANITE BAY, CA (December 16, 2022) Jerry Cepel was among four people killed after a car crashed into a tree on Roseville Parkway near Granite Bay Golf Club.
 
According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 9:04 p.m. Wednesday.
 
For unknown reasons, 61-year-old Jerry Cepel veered off the lane in his eastbound Mercedes-Benz CLS. Subsequently, the car jumped a curb and struck a tree. As a result, the Mercedes skidded sideways, slamming into a second tree before catching on fire.
 
Cepel, as well as three passengers, died in the crash. Authorities identified them as 65-year-old Patrick Gainer, 53-year-old Paul Hammack and 45-year-old Karan Pannu.
 
According to a California Highway Patrol spokesperson, the car was speeding well above the posted speed limit of 40 miles per hour on the residential road.
 
At this time, investigators have not confirmed if DUI factored into the crash, which left the road closed until 12:30 a.m.
