65-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Fruitridge Road

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (October 21, 2023) – Jermi Cortez was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Sacramento Wednesday morning on October 18.
 
The fatal crash happened around 6:00 a.m. on Fruitridge Road at 65th Street Expressway. According to the Sacramento Police Department, Cortez was walking in the area when a vehicle struck her.
 
The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the crash.
 
Sacramento fighters responded and found Cortez unresponsive on the roadway. They pronounced her dead at the scene.
 
Cortez was 65 years old, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
 
Police closed Fruitridge Road in both directions, between 65th Street and 66th Street while they documented the crash.
