BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 29, 2021) – Officers arrested Jay Hanby after a hit-and-run accident on Olive Drive on May 27.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at the intersection of Airport Drive around 12:10 AM.
 
Based on a report, officers tried to stop the suspect’s black BMW for an investigatory stop after officers saw several apparent bullet holes in the vehicle. Apparently, it matched the description of a vehicle involved in a shooting on May 4. However, Hanby took off and reached speeds in excess of 100 mph. Then, he struck another vehicle at H Street before attempting to leave the scene.
 
As a result, the driver of the vehicle sustained unspecified injuries. Emergency crews transported the victim to a hospital. Crews also took Hanby to a hospital for treatment after the crash.
 
In the end, police arrested Jay Hanby, 35, on suspicion of violating the terms of his parole, felony hit and run, and charges related to evading police.
