19-Year-Old Man Dies in Carmichael Bicycle Accident on Manzanita Avenue

 
CARMICHAEL, CA (May 29, 2021) – A teen was killed in a bicycle accident on Manzanita Avenue in Carmichael Thursday evening, May 27.
 
The accident happened around 8:00 a.m. at the intersection with Muldrow Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 19-year-old Sacramento man was riding his bicycle when he crashed off the side of the roadway and into a tree.
 
Witnesses said the victim had been holding onto the back of a pickup truck and then let go, sending him off at around 40 mph.
 
First responders pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
It is unclear what happened to the pickup truck that was reportedly involved.
 
Authorities do not suspect drugs or alcohol as factors. Further investigation is underway.
