Motorcyclist Javier Segura Dies after Colliding with Van on Highway 74 in Lake Elsinore

 
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (March 29, 2022) – Javier Hernandez Segura died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 74 on Sunday morning.
 
The accident happened around 11:00 a.m. on March 27 just east of South Main Divide. According to the CHP, the 34-year-old victim from Murrieta was riding a 2006 Suzuki GSXR motorcycle at speeds in excess of 80 mph.
 
At the same time, a 52-year-old San Clemente man was driving a 2008 Econoline van. He came to a complete stop on the eastbound Ortega Highway to make a legal left turn into a private parking area.
 
As the van driver waited for westbound vehicles to pass so he could initiate the turn, Segura approached from behind and plowed into the rear of the van.
 
As a result, Segura was thrown off his motorcycle onto the highway. He suffered severe injuries.
 
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived within 20 minutes and pronounced Segura dead at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the van was not injured.
 
This fatality is still under investigation.
