Jared Martineau Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident on 8 Freeway [Flinn Springs, CA]

Driver Dies after Colliding with Another Vehicle on 8 Freeway in Flinn Springs Area

 
FLINN SPRINGS, CA (May 22, 2023) – Jared Martineau was killed in a two-vehicle accident in the Flinn Springs area earlier this month on May 2.
 
The fatal accident happened shortly before 5:00 p.m. on 8 Freeway near Lake Jennings Park Road. According to the CHP, Martineau was driving his Ford pickup truck eastbound when he collided with another vehicle. The impact caused his pickup to overturn several times before coming to rest on the westbound side of the freeway.
 
Martineau was ejected from his truck and suffered extensive blunt force trauma to his head and upper body. He was pronounced dead on May 11, nine days after the crash, at Sharp Memorial Hospital, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office. He was a 29-year-old Lakeside resident.
 
It is unknown if there were other injuries sustained in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
