Jamie Cruz Killed in DUI Pedestrian Crash on Highway 180 near Bishop Avenue

 
KERMAN, CA (June 22, 2023) — Jamie Cruz died in a DUI pedestrian accident on Highway 180 near Bishop Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident happened around 11:40 p.m. Saturday. For DUI-related reasons, 39-year-old Jamie Cruz stepped in front of a westbound driver on Highway 180, west of Bishop Avenue. Subsequently, the female driver struck Cruz, sending him into the westbound lane where he was hit by a second car.
 
Moments later, paramedics arrived and took the Woodlake man to Community Regional Medical Center where he passed away. The Fresno County Coroner’s office released his identity shortly after.
 
Both drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with police investigators, who determined that DUI played a role in Cruz’s part.
