Jackson Upton Dies, James Jacobs III Hospitalized in 2-Car Crash at Jackson Road and Bacon Road

 
MODESTO, CA (January 19, 2023) — Jackson Upton died in a two-car accident at Jackson Road and Bacon Road Tuesday night.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash happened around 4:15 p.m. For unknown reasons, 19-year-old James Jacobs III failed to stop at the stop sign at Jackson Road and Bacon Road. As a result, his Honda traveled into the path of an eastbound Dodge Ram that did not have a stop sign. Both vehicles collided with the truck smashing into the Honda’s right side, sending both cars into an almond orchard.
 
Shortly after, paramedics responded to the scene but pronounced 19-year-old Jackson Upton dead. The driver, Jacobs, was airlifted to Memorial Medical Center for treatment of significant injuries. As for the 62-year-old Salida man driving the Dodge Ram, he reported minor injuries.
 
CHP officers say neither person in the Honda wore a seatbelt at the time and do not know if impairment played a role. If anyone has more information, please call the CHP.
