Crash Involving KCSO Deputy in Weldon Leaves 31-Year-Old Man Dead

 
WELDON, CA (October 10, 2023)Jack Lee Brown was killed in a deputy-involved crash in Weldon Saturday evening on October 7.
 
The fatal crash happened around 11:44 p.m. on Highway 178 near Kelso Valley Road. According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the KCSO deputy was heading east on the highway when got involved in the crash with a motorcycle, a BMW and a Ford Explorer.
 
The motorcycle was split in half after the crash.
 
Brown, a 31-year-old Weldon resident, died at the scene. It is still unclear which of the vehicles he was in.
 
Another person was conscious and had minor injuries.
 
The deputy did not sustain any injuries, KCSO said.
 
Authorities await a postmortem exam to better understand the cause of death and what caused the crash.
