Ismael Hernandez Dies, Jason McDermott Detained in Hit-and-Run Crash on Fairway Drive near Monarch Bay Drive

 
SAN LEANDRO, CA (April 25, 2022) — Ismael Hernandez died in after hit-and-run accident on Fairway Drive near Monarch Bay Drive on April 18.
 
According to San Leandro Police, the single father of three died on April 20, just two days after the hit-and-run accident had happened.
 
Around 4:15 p.m., 43-year-old Jason McDermott struck the golf course worker, who was riding a lawnmower to the golf course maintenance yard in the bicycle lane. Per witnesses, they saw McDermott driving recklessly in a stolen black Dodge Ram moments prior.
 
Following the accident, McDermott reportedly fled on foot. However, when police arrested a passenger in his truck, an investigation led officers to arrest McDermott, of Oakland.
