Broadside Crash on Moreno Beach Drive, Isaac Linares Identified

 
MORENO VALLEY, CA (October 4, 2022) – Isaac Linares died in a broadside crash in Moreno Valley on Sunday afternoon, October 2.
 
The fatal crash happened around 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of Moreno Beach Drive and Cactus Avenue. According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the 17-year-old victim from Moreno Valley was driving a gray 2001 Lexus IS 300 northbound on Moreno Beach Drive when he ran through a red light.
 
At the same time, a 2020 Honda Odyssey was heading eastbound on Cactus Avenue and entered the intersection on a green light.
 
The Lexus continued into the intersection when the Honda broadsided it. The impacts caused the Lexus to strike a metal traffic signal pole at the intersection.
 
As a result, Linares suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
A girl who was a passenger in the Lexus was hospitalized with major traumatic injuries. The 59-year-old woman driving the Honda and her five passengers had minor injuries.
 
It is unknown whether drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
