Suspect of Hit-and-Run Crash Dies after Struck by Big Rig on 80 Freeway in Loomis

 
LOOMIS, CA (March 6, 2024) – A hit-and-run suspect was fatally struck by a big rig on 80 Freeway in Loomis Wednesday afternoon on March 6.
 
The fatal crash happened around 4:30 p.m. just west of King Road. According to California Highway Patrol, the suspect was in a car and stopped along the right shoulder of westbound 80 freeway during the investigation of an earlier hit-and-run crash.
 
For unknown reasons, he got out of his car and ran into the freeway lanes when the big rig struck him.
 
The impact caused the suspect fatal injuries and he died at the scene. He was not yet identified.
 
The big rig ultimately came to a stop on the right shoulder.
 
CHP officials are still investigating the fatality and whether drugs or alcohol was involved.
