Gregorio Gomez Killed, Ashley Castillo and Elena Gomez Hospitalized, Carlos Jimenez Involved in Heber Car Crash

 
HEBER, CA (May 10, 2022) — Gregorio Gomez died in a multi-car accident on Highway 111 near Heber Road on Sunday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, 89-year-old Gomez allowed his southbound vehicle to veer into the opposing lane. Subsequently, the vehicle crashed head-on with an oncoming driver, identified as 40-year-old Ashley Castillo.
 
Soon after, paramedics reached the scene and pronounced Gomez deceased on arrival.
 
Meanwhile, another team took 84-year-old Elena Gomez — his passenger — to Desert Regional Medical Center by REACH Air with moderate injuries.
 
As for Castillo, she suffered major injuries and sought care at Desert Regional Medical Center with emergency personnel’s help.
 
At some point during the accident, Carlos Jimenez crashed into Castillo. However, he reported no wounds in the crash.
 
At this time, officers have not confirmed the leading cause of the accident. However, they do suspect wrong-way driving to have played a role in the accident. If anyone has more information, please contact the CHP.
