73-Year-Old Linda Woodward Dies, Sekou Brandon Charged in High-Speed Crash on 580 Freeway near Livermore Avenue

 
LIVERMORE, CA (May 10, 2022) — Linda Woodward died weeks after a high-speed accident on the 580 Freeway near Livermore Avenue.
 
According to the Contra Costa County Coroner’s division, 73-year-old Woodward died at Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek Medical Center on April 27, nearly two months after the February 17 crash.
 
Around 3:00 p.m. on February 17, an officer spotted 19-year-old Sekou Abayomia Brandon speeding eastbound on the 580 Freeway. Subsequently, the officer tried to pull him over, but Brandon picked up his speed to 90 miles per hour, trying to evade the officer.
 
As a result, the officer lost sight of him until eight minutes later when he responded to a crash at Livermore Avenue. Upon arriving, the officer found that Brandon’s red Lexus had crashed into a black SUV, holding two occupants inside.
 
One of the SUV occupants – identified as Woodward – suffered serious injuries and died months later.
 
The other occupant sustained moderate injuries.
 
At this time, officers have arrested Brandon for murder, vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and other charges. Although, if anyone has more information on this deadly accident, please contact the California Highway Patrol.
