Two-Vehicle Crash in Apple Valley Kills Barstow Man and Injures Four Others

 
APPLE VALLEY, CA (April 24, 2021) – Gerardo Mendoza died in a two-vehicle accident Thursday evening in Apple Valley.
 
The 26-year-old Barstow man died at the scene, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office.
 
The crash happened just before 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Dale Evans Parkway and Stoddard Wells Road. Mendoza wa driving a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro northbound on Dale Evans Parkway. At the same time, a 29-year-old Pacoima woman was driving a gray Nissan Altima eastbound on Stoddard Wells Road.
 
For unknown reasons, the two vehicles collided in the intersection. As a result, Mendoza was killed and his two passengers sustained unspecified injuries.
 
The driver and passenger of the Nissan were also injured.
 
Paramedics took all injured patients to a hospital in unknown conditions.
 
An investigation is ongoing to determine if drugs or alcohol impairment were factors in the crash. Authorities asked anyone with further information to contact Deputy Ryan Grissom or Jasen Malocco at the Apple Valley Station at 760-240-7400.
