Gerardo Becerra Killed in High-Speed Accident on Highway 163 [Mission Valley, CA]

Speeding Driver Dies after Colliding into Trash Truck in Mission Valley

 
MISSION VALLEY, CA (April 27, 2022) – Gerardo Becerra died in a high-speed accident on Highway 163 in Mission Valley on Monday morning.
 
The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. on April 25 near Friars Road. According to the CHP, Becerra was speeding north when he rear-ended the slow-moving sanitation vehicle, which had its hazard lights activated.
 
As a result, Becerra suffered major trauma and died at the scene. He was a 24-year-old Encinitas resident, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the trash truck driver was uninjured.
 
It is unclear if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash, but the possibility is being investigated.
