Traffic Accident on 5 Freeway in Red Bluff Involves Big Rig and Sedan

 
RED BLUFF, CA (December 8, 2023)Freddy Nsunzu and Dawn Potterton were hurt in a traffic accident in Red Bluff Thursday morning on December 7.
 
The accident happened around 5:27 a.m. on 5 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, Nsunzu was driving a white 2023 Freightliner Cascadia that was fully loaded when he crashed into the back of a blue 2014 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Potterton.
 
The impact sent both vehicles into this center median and then into the northbound lanes of the freeway. The big rig overturned and came to rest on his passenger side while the Hyundai rested on the east shoulder in an upright position.
 
Potterton, a 59-year-old Redding resident, was injured in the crash. Nsunzu, 46 years old from West Hills, Ohio, also sustained minor injuries.
 
Both were taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital for proper treatment.

Officers later arrested Potterton for driving while impaired. Anyone with further information about this crash are encouraged to contact the Red Bluff CHP Office at 530-737-6746.
