Francisca Monzono Killed, Alannah Eastern Charged in DUI Wrong-Way Collision on Highway 70 near McGowan Parkway

 
YUBA COUNTY, CA (September 4, 2024) — Francisca Monzono died in Monday’s DUI wrong-way crash on Highway 70 near McGowan Parkway.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly two-vehicle crash happened in the Olivehurst area of Yuba County around 5:29 a.m.

For DUI reasons, 19-year-old Alannah Eastern began driving in the wrong direction. Subsequently, her Buick collided head-on with a Toyota SUV, driven by a 47-year-old woman. Upon impact, one of the cars spun out and at least one person in the cabin was trapped.
 
Minutes later, rescue crews arrived to extricate the trapped victims. However, the Toyota driver, later identified as Francisca Monzono of Elverta, by the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department, passed away in the accident. Two other patients reported injuries.
 
Meanwhile, officers arrested Eastern for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and felony DUI causing injury. She also sustained injuries and received care at a hospital.
