2 Dead, Dog Dies in Calaveras County Head-On Crash on Highway 12
CALAVERAS COUNTY, CA (September 4, 2024) — Two people and a dog died in a head-on accident on Highway 12 near Double Springs Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly two-vehicle crash happened around 9:26 p.m. Sunday. Authorities responded to the scene near Toyon Middle School to find two vehicles involved in the collision.
A young adult male and a young adult female passed away in the crash. Officials have not released their names. In addition, a small dog riding in one of the cars passed away, as well. A third patient sustained severe injuries.
At this time, authorities do not know what caused the collision, including if speeding or impairment factored into the crash. However, if anyone has more information, contact the CHP.
