MADERA, CA (October 4, 2023) – Four people were hurt in a helicopter crash at Garnet Lake and Thousand Island Lake on Saturday morning.

Around 10:00 a.m. on September 30, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a hiker with a broken ankle in the area near the Pacific Coast Trail. They coordinated with NAS Lemoore to dispatch a helicopter crew to rescue the hiker.

However, the helicopter experienced difficulties while responding and had to make a hard landing.
