CHULA VISTA, CA (February 24, 2021) – Five people sustained injuries Wednesday last week after a head-on accident on Palomar Street at Santa Olivia Road.
 
The accident happened just before 5:30 p.m. in Chula Vista’s Otay Ranch area, authorities said.
 
According to the Chula Vista Police Department, a black BMW SUV was traveling westbound on Palomar Street at a high rate of speed when it collided head-on with several vehicles.
 
Responding paramedics rescued two people from their vehicles, the Chula Vista Fire Department said. They transported the two, along with another victim, to local trauma centers.
 
Another two victims were hurt but declined transportation.
 
None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening, police said.
 
Authorities are investigating the driver of the SUV, who was not publicly identified, for DUI, though the investigation is delayed with the person hospitalized.
