Alejandro Casillasvilla Injured, Passenger Dead after Car Crash with Semi-Truck
SAN LEANDRO, CA (February 24, 2021) — One person died and Alejandro Casillasvilla suffered injuries in a car crash on Tuesday, February 16.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 10:55 a.m. on 880 Freeway near Floresta Boulevard.
The crash started when Casillasvilla, the driver of a Honda Accord, started weaving through lanes on southbound 880. Then he lost control of the vehicle. The Honda crossed from the no. 1 lane to the no. 5 lane where it hit a semi-truck.
Officials said the impact tore the passenger door of the Honda. It also ejected the passenger from the vehicle.
Fire officers tried life-saving measures. However, the female passenger died at the scene. Her identity was not immediately available.
Medics rushed 20-year-old Casillasvilla to a nearby hospital for a complaint of pain.
It’s unclear what Casillasvilla was arrested for or if impairment played a role in the crash.
The driver of the semi-truck did not sustain any injuries.
Officials closed several lanes on the freeway for about three hours.
