DUI Driver Daniel Higgins Runs Stop Sign and Tips Fire Truck in Madera County, James Kirkman and Nicholas Parker Injured

 
MADERA COUNTY, CA (February 11, 2022) – A drunk driver reportedly struck and tipped a fire truck after running a stop sign on Avenue 13 on January 31.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Avenue 13 at Road 36 shortly before 10:00 PM in Madera Ranchos.
 
57-year-old Daniel P. Higgins of Vernon drove a 1995 Buick LeSabre when he failed to stop at a stop sign. At the same time, a 2016 Spartan Cal Fire truck was driving south on Road 36 and did not have a stop sign.
 
The LeSabre then struck the fire truck, tipping the truck over on the driver’s side.
 
The firefighter driving the truck, 34-year-old Nicholas Parker of Madera, was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. James Kirkman, a 40-year-old firefighter also in the truck, suffered moderate injuries.
 
Higgins may have been drunken driving, according to CHP. As a result, police arrested him. However, officials transported him to Community Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
