Traffic Stalled after Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 44 near 5 Freeway in Redding

 
REDDING, CA (February 11, 2022) – Traffic was backed up on Highway 44 following a multi-vehicle accident near Sundial Bridge Drive, Thursday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on February 10 at about 3:00 p.m. A car attempted to avoid carpet and debris in the roadway. This reportedly initiated a chain-reaction collision near the junction with 5 Freeway.
 
The number of vehicles involved in the accident remains unknown.
 
As per reports, no serious injuries were sustained in the crash.
 
The crash caused traffic to come to a stop on eastbound Highway 44, reaching downtown Redding.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
