Police Chase on Dry Creeek Road in Rio Linda Injures 6 People, Including Pregnant Woman

RIO LINDA, CA (September 21, 2022) – An unborn child was killed and six people were injured during a police chase on Dry Creek Road at Elkhorn Boulevard Friday evening on September 16.

Around 9:00 p.m., law enforcement received reports of a sideshow at the intersection of Eleverta Road at Dutch Haven Boulevard. When officers arrived, they saw over 100 vehicles and people blocking the intersection.

While dispersing the crowd, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Honda Accord with a 17-year-old driver, a juvenile passenger, and two adult passengers. The driver did not stop and the chase began.

The vehicle entered the intersection of Dry Creek Road at Elkhorn Boulevard and collided with a Honda Civic that was traveling eastbound.

The pregnant driver of the Civic suffered major injuries from the crash. Unfortunately, the unborn child did not survive.

Five other people sustained unspecified injuries.

Police later arrested the driver of the Accord and booked him into the Sacramento County Juvenile Hall for multiple charges.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The Sacramento Police Department is handling the investigation.
