3 Children Hospitalized in Pedestrian Accident on Sycamore Drive at Mansanita Way [Antioch, CA]

Two Boys, One Girl Suffer Injuries after Hit by Car while Walking Home from School on Sycamore Drive

 
ANTIOCH, CA (September 21, 2022) – Three children were taken to hospitals after a pedestrian accident on Sycamore Drive in an Antioch neighborhood on Friday afternoon, September 16.
 
The accident happened around 3:00 p.m. at Mansanita Way. According to the Antioch Police Department, the children were walking home from school and were standing on the sidewalk when a car spun out after a crash at hit all three of them.
 
Those children included two boys and a girl. They are siblings and are each twelve-years-old.
 
Witnesses told police that a tan Mercury Mystique was heading westbound on Sycamore Drive and was waiting for traffic to clear before turning left onto Mansanita Way. At the same time, a red Chevrolet Impala was going down Sycamore at high speeds. It then attempted to pass the Mercury just as the Mercury was turning left.
 
The Impala collided into the Mercury, pushing all three kids from the sidewalk and across the street to the house it crashed into.
 
Paramedics took all three kids to hospitals with serious injuries, two of them were in critical condition.
 
Loved ones of the kids created a GoFundMe page to help cover their medical expenses.
 
An investigation is underway.
